Greetings, and welcome to my website. My name is Dawn Meader (née Brodersen) and I live in Wangaratta which is situated in Victoria’s beautiful North East – Australia.
I am a self-taught artist and painting has always been a passion of mine. Though I have exhibited my work in art shows in the distant past, circumstances have kept me from the canvas for many years. Now, at long last, I find myself able to immerse myself in this rewarding activity.
My art is inspired by the beauty that surrounds us here in this amazing locality and it finds expression in my landscape paintings. Using oil and acrylic paints, I explore the interplay of colour and tone to capture the subtleties of light and shadow, with the goal of recreating the atmosphere and mood of each scene. For me, every painting is an adventure —a journey of discovery and learning. Due to my interest in art history, my works have tended to be classically influenced, but I hope, always intrinsically Australian.
I am committed to honing my skills and expanding my artistic freedom. While my current work is rooted in realism, I am also drawn to the vibrant and expressive qualities of Impressionism and abstract realism. I also want to work more with Acrylics and explore new exciting possibilities with modern mediums. My goal is to seamlessly blend many influences, evolving my own style and technique with each new challenge. Through my art, I aim to share the profound beauty of the world and my ever-evolving response to it.
